Local Ironman raises money for NET Project

Taylor Haley trains for Ironman 2015 in Houston, Texas

Taylor Haley in training for Ironman

Ironman, such an interesting way to raise money for WAFER.

Ironman is a competition well-known around the world.  It is hard to imagine what athletes endure as they complete a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, and a 26.2 mile run.  Here’s the catch, it needs to be completed in under 17 hours. Taylor Haley completed it in just over 14 hours.

Ironman is not new to Taylor Haley.  He has participated in several Ironman events around the country including the most recent event in Houston Texas on May 16th.  Taylor serves as the President of the Wafer Board of Directors.  As an athlete, he recognizes the value of healthy eating and has a burning desire to help our clients eat healthy and enjoy the benefits of good nutrition.

His goal is to raise $100,000 to fund  WAFER’S Nutrition Education and Tools (NET) project.  With a $20,000 up front commitment using our reserve funds plus another $13,000 that has been raised since April, we encourage your support to make this program and reality.

This initiative will create several outreach classes to teach at risk adults how to prepare nutritious meals using fresh produce and other foods distributed by WAFER.  Many low income residents lack the basic tools needed to prepare food so NET is also set up to provide participants with basic tools like can openers and cooking utensils.

We piloted several outreach events in 2014. The response was overwhelming so we know there is a need. Now we need the resources to continue to make it happen.  Click the donate button in the right column to make a tax deductible donation today or send your payment to WAFER, 403 Causeway Blvd,  La Crosse, WI 54603 !  Please indicate “NET PROJECT” when making your donation.
